Thank you once again for your involvement in this significant project at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. As one of the most diverse hospitals in the state, it is crucial for us to honor all faiths and ensure that all feel welcome.
For those unable to attend, we hope you can visit the chapel soon. There are several elements we would love for you to observe during your visit:
- The Labyrinth inlayed in the floor of the primary space. Labyrinths have a long history as a prayer and meditation tool, and in addition, the angle of the labyrinth on the floor acts as a Qiblah.

- The art glass in both the meditation/refuge room and in the primary space offer scenes of nature which include important symbolism to many cultural, spiritual and religious traditions.
- The heritage art in the south hallway pays homage to our previous chapel, including the wood carvings that were created in the 1960's reflecting our commitment to caring for the ill, both physically and spiritually.
If you have any questions about the chapel, or spiritual care needs, please feel free to contact Jill Rowland (503) 413-4153 or jrowland@lhs.org at any time. For additional information about gifts of support to the chapel, please contact me.
In gratitude,
Heather
